To buy or not to buy...

So, I have been curious about these Debbie Meyer Green Bags. I started by looking for the best price so that I could try them out. Then, I started reading the reviews... it seems for every one good review there is 2 bad ones. Has anyone out there actually tried them themselves and loved them? Do you have to follow strict instructions to get good results? For example, some people say that moisture bulid up in the green bag will cause things to spoil. So just put papertowels in the bag and keep the produce dry. AND there are some reports that the pretty yellow 9 day old bananas look great but are rotten on the inside! Huh?? And while we are talking about bananas, I have heard not to put them in the fridge, so I never have. Is that true? I don't see why you would need to put them in the fridge anyway. That seems strange to me. But I do put other fruits in there... I don't know.

If I can get the bags to work for me (extend the life of my fruits and veggies) then it is worth buying.
So friends and family, post me a comment and gimme some feedback.
Thanks!

Cassie...I think you watch too much TV :) but while you're at it will you try the Buxton Bag, Mighty Putty and the one I want to try the most is the GT Express 101...OMG that thing is so cool!

Anyway - I've never used the green bags but it sounds too good to be true if you ask me. We bought some of the Ziploc brand produce bags and they didn't work at all! Oh well! Maybe we should become inventors and invent stuff that REALLY works!

My guess from looking at the is that it sounds like great marketing. It's usually best to eat the vegetables quickly, anyway. Who keeps vegetables for a week? Only buy whaat you need. Save some money, and save more crud in the landfill.

Bananas should not be refrigerated. Plus you want to keep your bananas away from the other fresh produce. They have a chemical that accelerates the ripening and deterioration of other produce.

I don't believe it, and it seems as if some of the quality would deteriorate from using this weird bag.

Bananas are best if you buy them a little green and use a "banana hook" sort of thing, made to hang bananas. Tomatoes and potatoes should not be refrigerated either.

I avoid refrigerating most fruits and veggies, and try to use them quickly. Plan meals so that you cook with all your "fresh" ingredients in the days just after shopping!

Another tip: If you like to cook with red/green/yellow/orange bell pepper, buy fresh, chop and toss into a freezer bag and store in the freezer. Then just measure out what you need for recipes. It freezes really well and looks/tastes the same when you cook with it.
